NOVASCENES

The advent of AI and hyperintelligence in the Anthropocene marks the beginning of an era that James Lovelock has described in his book as the NOVACENE.
It is somewhat of a tautology, as ‘Nova’ is a Latin word meaning ‘new’, and the Greek suffix -ceen (or -ceen in Dutch, derived from the Greek kainos (καινός)) also means new or recent. The ‘recent new’, then. For nothing becomes outdated as quickly as the term for ‘New’… but more important than the name is the fact that artificial intelligence is becoming a useful tool in the design process in this era.

MIXD designs architecture (scenes) for this recent (and coming) era.
The word ‘scene’ is derived from the Ancient Greek word σκηνή (skènè). Originally, it was a light wooden structure or tent.

MIXD has therefore coined the term NOVASCENES for architectures that simultaneously meet the ecological demands of this era, are generated using algorithms, and whose aesthetically minimalist sculptural qualities balance clarity and unpredictability.
NOVASCENE number 1 was UNASYNE, number 2 is ONESCAPE.
