Neighbors’ grass is always greener
garden for/from the neighbourhood

For years a piece of land had been lying fallow at the intersection of The Hague’s Joseph Ledelstraat and De Constant Rebecque-straat. An eyesore for many people, which led to the idea in early 2012 to do something about it together.

After several meetings of the initiative group* the following program of requirements and wishes emerged: space for growing vegetables / fruit, playing / learning, meeting / relaxing and a stage for cultural performances / film.

Designer René Jansen approached MIXD and together they set to work to create the design, raise the necessary funds and realize the implementation.

It became ‘t Gras v/d Buren, a garden for and from the neighborhood, but also for the many passers-by who use the De Constant Rebecquestraat that connects the center with the Regentessekwartier neighborhood.
